Lent is a season of reflection and preparation. Traditionally, it was the time prior to baptism at Easter for final testing and preparation. The lessons lead us to the crucifixion and the hope of the resurrection at Easter.

The color for Lent is purple. Lent begins with Ash Wednesday. Lent is 40 days in length excluding Sundays. Holy Week leads us from Lent into Easter.

"Rend your hearts and not your garments. Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, and repents of evil." --Joel 2:13
