Christmas is the season for celebrating the birth of the Christ child and events in his childhood. This season is 12 days long and will have one or two Sundays in the season.  The season begins on December 25 and ends at the Epiphany, January 6.

The color for the season of Christmas is white.  The lections (lessons) for Christmas are the same for all three years (A, B, and C).  Christmas Day 1 and 2 both have the Gospel narrative from Luke.  Christmas Day 3 has the Gospel reading from John.  At St. Michael's we use Christmas Day 1 for an early Christmas Eve service with children's pageant.  Christmas Day 2 readings are used for the "midnight mass" celebration.  On Christmas Day morning we use Christmas Day 3.

"Behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will come to all people; for to you is born this day in the city of David, a Savior, who is Christ the Lord." --Luke 2:10,11
